HERE WE GO AGAIN IN FERGUSON
We all knew this day was coming. Have you been watching the news? Ferguson officials are boarding up Police Headquarters and other government buildings in the town.
Attorneys rush about to file cases at the courthouse, lest it be shut down on Monday if a NOT GUILTY verdict comes in, in favor of the white officer, Darren Wilson, who shot the unarmed, black teen, Michael Brown, in August.
Business owners are boarding up their businesses, residents are scrambling to get supplies from corner stores, and the Governor of Missouri has already declared a state-of-emergency, just in case there is more violence when the ruling is handed down. Did I just say “just in case?” What was I thinking?????
As if all that wasn’t enough, two would-be militant bombers, suspected of buying explosives to detonate during possible protests in Ferguson, were arrested on Friday and charged with federal firearms offenses, per a law enforcement official speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity.
Here’s the kicker, though: One report I read, said that a resident of Ferguson, suggested that this is all being done because “the verdict is already known.” Hmmm, that’s something to think about. And the more I think about it (yes, I do a quite a bit of thinking), the more it makes sense that they would be taking these measures for that very reason. Here’s something else to think about that I came up with on my own (didn’t I just tell you that I was a “thinker?”), Ferguson officials are taking all these measures now, on a Saturday, because the verdict will be announced on Monday or pretty early in the coming week. No one has told me that, I haven’t read that anywhere, it’s just a feeling I have.
So that all brings us to this: Here we go again in Ferguson.
What can the world expect to see on every news channel in the coming days?

Lord, help all those people there, and let US be thankful, that during a time of such unrest, we live in other parts of the world.

Hi. I’m in CA. I am very sorry that some protesters became violent and destroyed property. I saw a yahoo story regarding Maria the owner of Busy Bee Alterations not being able to afford the 2k to board up. I wanted to check on her today. Can anyone let me know if her business went unharmed?

Nonnie, until the people of Ferguson wise up and start getting involved in the election of their officials, this will be the outcome. Them vs. us. Young people need to be taught the history of slavery and the detrimental consequences of the fallout from it. Ferguson needs to fight intelligently and long term in order to take back their community. Not only in Ferguson but in other communities where this is playing out and young men are losing their lives. This is America and this kind of thing needs to be put to rest once and for all. It is a blemish on our society.

My heart goes out to the people of Ferguson. We live in a world where the white man & the dollar is worshipped. If you’re poor & especially if you’re black, you got nothing coming. Sometimes you have to go to extremes to alert to get the media to pay attention to your plight.

I agree, John Howell… you said it very well. Unfortunately, it is so difficult to rein in emotions after centuries of racial discrimination. Let’s hope that cooler heads prevail and that the Grand Jury can summon the courage to do what is right.

Whatever side one takes I still don’t understand how violence helps solve violence. I have a guarded view of law enforcement which is right up there with a guarded view of government, but I think citizens need to set the proper example. If citizens want change they need to take up the pen, the voting lever and not just a rock. Citizens need to force evolution before revolution. It requires getting involved for change as opposed to polarizing the issue. My heart goes out to the citizens of Ferguson and the family of Michael Brown. No matter the rage lawlessness is not the answer.

It’s just all so sad. But it’s also true that big change is birthed through chaos, so I hope the change is worth the price, whatever it is. Still praying for a miracle, though.

I haven’t been following the case, because we cancelled cable tv (thank God) in favor of Netflix
The police are the front line of the criminal justice system, although we’re supposed to think that they are separate entities.
How can anyone think that they are going to rule against one of their own.

I am in agreement with you, A.G. How can anyone believe that there will be justice for all when “one of their own” always gets off with nary a hand-spanking? It’s time for a change people. Our kids…black, white, yellow and brown, walk around, drive around, hang around, together, hand-in-hand. They’re not the problem…We are. This is NOT the ’50s and ’60s. This is on the way to 2015. WE ARE ONE!

Have not seen the full facts of the case yet but generally this type of shooting is triggered (sorry for the pun!) by an innate racism no matter the efforts made to disguise it.

I saw Wilson’s interview and he described Michael Brown as hulk hogan…looked like a demon. Now he is 6 ft 2″ and Brown is 6:4. Tell me how he (Wilson) came to feel small next to Brown? Is this stuff taught? If so black males don’t stand a chance. This perception of the big black boogey man is getting people killed. I’ve seen some big big Caucasians so how did we get to this? I’m sorry, I’m just a little upset with all of this insanity. A 12 year old was killed. They shot first, then asked questions. There’s a video to prove it, and the parents have a lawsuit.
