THE TWELVE DAYS OF “AUTHORS” – DAY 3

Hello, and welcome to my very own 12 DAYS OF “AUTHORS!”  Today, I begin with my theme song:  “On the 3rd day of authors, Ms. Nonnie gave to me, a Kathryn C. Treat from Cali!”  You’ve heard of the 12 Days of Christmas, right?  Well, this is  my version of that, my gift to these very special people and to you!  This all started on Sunday, December 14, with John “Fio” Fioravanti,  as the 1st of my 12 Days of “Authors”, then Marlena Hand as my 2nd day, and it will continue until Dec. 25, Christmas Day.  Each day I will profile one very special author and their written work.  Because I am in awe of so many of you, (definitely more than 12), I had to come up with a process for my selection.  So, I threw a bunch of names into a pot and the ones that came out, will be profiled here in my 12 Days of “Authors!”

Ladies and Gentlemen, I introduce to you:

KATHRYN C. TREAT!

Kathryn is our ex-Membership Director but now serves in an honorary Board Member role since she was right by my side when I founded the Rave Reviews Book Club.  Although Kathryn no longer serves as an “active”  board member, she is a very active member of the club and now serves as Social Media Asst, in charge of our LinkedIN and Pinterest accounts.  I’m glad Kathryn is one of my 12 Days of “Authors” as she is such a dedicated and committed member of this club.  She’s always on the ready to assist anyone in any way she can.  It seems I’m not the only one who feels this way about Kathryn, based on some “certain” votes that are rolling in for our Rave Awards, but I digress…you didn’t hear that from me. (On a side note, those of you who are voting for Kathryn, could I convince you to re-vote and place my name in that “particular” slot?  I think I deserve it more!  NO?….well, a girl can try, can’t she?)

And now, here’s a bit from Kathryn in her own words:

“After exposure to severe mold in the workplace, I found myself unable to continue the life I once led.  I was forced to quit work and give up many things that I cherished.  At the time I became ill, I was a 45-year-old mother of two.  The mold exposure sent me on a path of immune system dysfunction, severe depression and near financial ruin.  I struggled with the loss of identity, loss of my independence and severe depression.  In 2003 I began to write my book.  I felt others needed to know how devastating mold can really be.  It has taken me nearly nineyears to complete the book.  Allergic to Life:  My Battle for Survival, Courage, and Hope is now available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and signed copies will be available on my website for those in the US only.

It is my hope that my words will help others struggling with mold exposure or chemical sensitivity realize that they can still make a life for themselves, albeit a different life.  It is also my hope that family members, friends, and those in the medical field will come to understand what life is like after mold exposure.”
