THE TWELVE DAYS OF “AUTHORS” – DAY 5
Hello, and welcome to my very own 12 DAYS OF “AUTHORS!” Today, I begin with my theme song: “On the 5th day of authors, Ms. Nonnie gave to me, one Bruce A. Borders!” You’ve heard of the 12 Days of Christmas, right? Well, this is my version of that, my gift to these very special people and to you! This all started on Sunday, December 14, with John “Fio” Fioravanti, as the 1st of my 12 Days of “Authors,” then Marlena Hand as my 2nd day, Kathryn C. Treat as my 3rd, P.H. Solomon as my 4th, and it will continue until Dec. 25, Christmas Day. Each day I will profile one very special author and their written work. Because I am in awe of so many of you, (definitely more than 12), I had to come up with a process for my selection. So, I threw a bunch of names into a pot and the ones that came out, will be profiled here in my 12 Days of “Authors!”
Ladies and Gentlemen, I introduce to you:
BRUCE A. BORDERS
BRUCE A. BORDERS is the kind, gentle soul who serves as V. President at the RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB. Bruce doesn’t say much, but he definitely has lots to say…and he usually does it very well via his book and song writing. Yes, our dear Bruce is not only an Author, he’s also a Singer-Songwriter! Bruce was right by my side when I started the RRBC and he remains a constant confidante and friend, when I need to vent or when I need a caring, listening ear. He also presides over our Mentor program and should you get completely out of line in the club, it’s Bruce you will hear from.
And now, here’s a little more that you may not know about Bruce:
He was born in 1967 in Cape Girardeau, MO. His childhood years were spent in a number of states, including Missouri, Oregon, Wisconsin and Wyoming. During his high school years, he was a member of the football, basketball and track teams, involved in various non-athletic activities such as school yearbook production and photography, and won numerous awards for his artistic creations. Bruce graduated Valedictorian in 1984.
While in school, Bruce held three part-time jobs; a store clerk, a janitor, and a dental technician, working about 60-70 hours per week. After graduation he became employed full time as a dental technician. Other jobs have included restaurant manager, carpenter and grocery store cashier. For the past eighteen years, he has worked as a commercial truck driver, logging more than two million miles.
At the age of fifteen, Bruce decided to become a writer. He began by writing songs, news articles and short stories. Eventually, books were added to the list. Over the years, he continued to write and currently has a catalog of more than 500 songs, numerous short stories and over a dozen completed books. He writes on a variety of subjects such as the Bible and politics, as well as fictional novels of legal issues and westerns.
Bruce has authored MANY books all of which are on my TBR, but my most favorite already is OVER MY DEAD BODY! (Gosh, I love that book, AND THE TITLE…it’s like, they’re my own words! He has also authored the WYNN GARRETT SERIES, as well as other books, so don’t miss out on those reads.
My dear guests, I invite you to visit Bruce’s blog, also follow his blog while you’re there. He’s a great supporter, so I would suggest that he be followed on Twitter as well. One of the reasons that I was drawn to Bruce, was because of his supportive nature of others, and we all know those kinds of people, are a rarity these days. If we are fortunate enough to have these awesome supporters cross our paths, we should be extremely grateful! I can’t tell you how blessed I feel to have Bruce in my corner and definitely on my TEAM!
CONGRATS, BRUCE on being the 5th of my 12 Days of “Authors!”

Wow, Bruce. We have a lot in common. I am a singer/songwriter as well as author, like you! I actually began writing songs at age 10 for church and weddings:) You have lived quite an accomplished life so far. I knew I liked you as an author when I read ‘Inside Room 913’ but I think I admire you even more after learning about your background and many talents! Congrats on your feature today!! Well-earned:)

Thanks, Michelle! Yes, I did the songwriting thing for a while. Went to Nashville, met a lot of people, had a lot of fun – and never got a single song signed or recorded! Now, I concentrate on books.
You can see a video of a song I did called There’ll Never Be Another Johnny Cash on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeOtE-2W2zU&feature=youtube_gdata_playerb
