Let’s Play Follow The Leader – @rijanjks #RRBC #RWISA
Thank you all for dropping by today. I hope it was the title of this post that enticed you to do so.
Many of you may be aware that early last year I took my debut novel, “DAYDREAM’S DAUGHTER, NIGHTMARE’S FRIEND” down from Amazon. (I’ve recently discovered that in my haste to do so, I only removed the e-book format and it is still there in paperback format, but hopefully, no one’s buying it). I did this, because although it received many positive reviews, I just happened to open a paperback copy one day to find some very glaring “hiccups.” I was so blown away (that they were glaring…at least to me) that I rushed to Amazon and yanked it down with such force, I think I hurt my arm. (I’m sorry, poor arm).
Anyway, with running the hugely busy and successful communities known as RRBC & RWISA, I have yet to re-edit and put the book back up for sell and I won’t, until it is at its absolute very best! I’d like to apologize to those of you who still promote that book, even when you notice that I haven’t retweeted your tweet. That’s only because I am strongly opposed to doing so when I know it’s not at its best in the current form. But again, thank you so much for supporting me. (Honestly, if you would stop pushing it at the moment, I’d greatly appreciate that).
On my mission to encourage others to take their writing reputations seriously by only allowing the best of their work to be sold to readers, I think Author, Jan Sikes might have just heard me screaming all over the place. Not long ago, Jan realized that there were “hiccups” in one of her books, so what did she do? You guessed it! She took it down, sent it thru a re-edit and now it’s back up and ready to lay cradled in the crook of your arm, each night as you read yourself to sleep.
Jan notified me recently that the book was “ready” and it is also on sale now for only $.99, and because I am so proud of her for taking her book down to ensure that it was at its best before she sold another copy, I want to assist in the book’s promotion, especially while it’s at this great price point!
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, the NEWLY POLISHED & RE-EDITED…
“FLOWERS AND STONE”
Jan is a superb story-teller so I am asking you to please, please, please join me in helping her to push her re-released, newly edited book, “FLOWERS AND STONE!”
Jan is also a member of the very elite and exclusive RWISA: RAVE WRITERS – INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF AUTHORS and so I invite you to visit her profile page there. You’ll quickly learn why you should check out her books.
My final request, if you want to go a step further in helping to promote Jan’s re-release: how about re-blogging this page onto your own site and definitely share it on your social media forums. I know it would move her to tears to see all the support!
Friends, anytime you’d like me to help you promote you or your good reads here on my site, just drop me a line at NonnieJules@gmail.com. Being able to be of service to others (to you), is my greatest mission in this beautiful life of mine.
Until next time…

Remember when you pull a paperback from Amazon, any books that have been resold or offered as used will still be out there. My book, “And the Whippoorwill Sang” is a second edtion as of 2012 but copies of the original im 2007 are being sold as used and found as pirated in a myriad of places. And ebooks of the original pop up now and then which really makes me furious. I tell Amazon and they say it’s my publisher’s job and my publisher says it is up to Amazon. Good incentive to do a good edit on my new book, a collection of short stories all previously published, but still have errors. I’m checking Shakespeare for errors. I know the bible is full of them. I’d like to say no book is free of errors but I have read one that was perfect. The editor only charged 1400 dollars. So my books will probably always have errors even though I am a good editor for other books. Good, not great. Sigh.

In deciding to (finally) work on book 3 of a series, I realized I needed to re-read book 2. Well, guess what? I’m now once again editing the darned thing! I thankfully haven’t come across any errors (yet!), but I am polishing it up quite a bit with rewording. It’s a very important process!
However, one thing that seems to get missed quite often in the self-pub world is the need for professional-looking covers. Yes, nearly everyone does judge a book by its cover! I see so many awful covers on Amazon and think, “I bet that’s a great book, but no one is going to buy it because the cover looks like a 3rd grader did it.” I’m currently working on getting some of my own covers redone by a professional (and no, it doesn’t have to cost a fortune.
Self-pubbing is hard, time-consuming work: Writing, editing, re-editing, editing yet again, book layout, cover design, and marketing are all necessary steps to ensure success. I’m taking those baby steps myself now to make this hobby into a career!
Blessings to everyone in their endeavors 🙂

Oh my goodness, Nonnie! I am moved to tears by your post. I simply could not accept that the beginning story of my series was so poorly written. At the time I wrote it, I did my best, but I had a crappy editor who did not catch any of the errors, yet took my money anyway. The lessons that stick are always learned the hard way.Anyway, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for helping spread the word about the book. If I hadn’t believed in the story so much I would never have bothered. I’d like to add that an honest review was my motivation and I thank the reviewer for their honesty. Thanks everyone for sharing! Hugs!

I’m on my third editor. The last book I uploaded I found 13 mistakes after formatting. Now I have an amazing supportive reader who has sent me yet more changes. And they are small annoying things. But I’m like you, I can’t stand the idea that a product hits the market with errors. I reblogged this. It’s a testament to how hard we all work to deliver a really great experience for our readers. Congrats!

Reblooged on http://mallie1025@wordpress.com/ I have the original and was not overly disturbed by the errors and repititions. But I understand how she feels —-the same as me when finding errors after tons of editing.

Yes Jan. I didn’t know the extent of the problems until I decided to get it done. So I quietly started the editing and ran into a couple of horrors. Just learned that a photo was completely missing when the book was re-launched and it took til now to discover the error, and that photos were misplaced in the book. The formatting was bad from the transfer and I never knew any of this but just felt like something was not right. Its tough when you are an Indie Author because you are not taken seriously and stuff happens.
